The institution's task was to accept children of fallen soldiers and victims of fascist terror who were too old for regular schooling, providing them with accommodation, food, and education in exchange for financial compensation.<\/p>\n

Name and role changes<\/h2>\n

1962: The institution changes its name to "Home for Children and Youth."<\/p>\n

1978: The Home changes its name to the Home for Children and Youth "25. May."<\/p>\n

1991: The Government of the Republic of Serbia includes the Home in the network of social welfare institutions under the name Home for Children "25. Maj."<\/p>\n

1994: The home changes its name again, this time to the Home for Children and Youth "Jefimija."<\/p>\n

Role and significance throughout history<\/h2>\n

Over the past 60 years of operation, around 3,000 children have grown up, lived and studied in this home, and all employees have taken very dedicated care of them.<\/p>\n

The Home for Children and Youth "Jefimija" is a republican institution in the field of social protection, which provides residential accommodation services to children and young people up to the age of 26, i.e. until the completion of schooling and work training. Residential accommodation services are provided to children and young people whose needs cannot be met within the biological, kinship or foster family or through community services, based on a decision of the guardianship authority or court, i.e. upon the instruction of the social work center, until the child or young person returns to the biological family, i.e. until placement in a kinship or foster family, adoption or independence.<\/p>\n
